Tottenham Women vs West Ham Women, FA Cup & contract extentions.

What a week it’s been, Sunday saw our Lilywhites start nervously against one of the top teams in the WSL and saw us start 2020 with a unfortunate defeat. Monday Saw the 4th round draw for the FA Cup took place and saw our Tottenham women drawn at home to Barnsley.

The draw also brought the neutrals two very exciting matches with West Ham being drawn at home to Arsenal and Manchester United due to host city rivals Manchester City. The positive as Spurs fans here is that 2 rivals will be eliminated giving our Lilywhites a better chance of reaching the latter stages of the FA Cup and hopefully getting to the final on May 9th at the prestigious Wembley Stadium. The full 4th round draw can be seen below.

Kit Graham extends stay

On Wednesday Tottenham announced that forward Kit Graham had signed a new contract keeping her a the club until 2021. Kit Graham is slowly becoming a fan favourite over at the Hive scoring 4 goals for the Lilywhites and who can forget her 2 spectacular goals against Bristol City

It’s London Derby Time

Its time for another home game at the Hive London this time Tottenham women welcome London neighbors West Ham United women to the Hive. Back in September these two teams went head to head in the league at the London Stadium which was the first time a womens game had taken place at a mens stadium. Tottenham came out victorious that day winning by 2-0 with goals by Rianna Dean and Lucy Quinn.

West Ham vs Tottenham 29th September 2019

This is the 3rd meeting this season between these two teams with Tottenham and West Ham also playing in the Conti cup where Tottenham won on penalties after letting a 2 goal lead slip in the final minutes of the game.

West Ham v Tottenham Conti Cup20th October 2019

This is the first time Tottenham will have hosted West Ham with both previous fixtures taking place at Rush Green and the London Stadium where over 24.000 people showed to support these inspirational women. Tottenham come into this game sitting in 7th and while West Ham sit in 8th but having played 2 games less than Tottenham so a victory is a must for Tottenham if they are to continue their cementing their place in next seasons top flight.

Prediction.

Not only are Tottenham coming from defeat but they are also still trying to adapt to life after Rachel Furness. Derbys are never easy especially when you are the new team on the scene. West Ham are in their second year as a professional team but as i have mentioned many times before Tottenham have shown that they can battle with the best of them. It will be a tough game but Tottenham have shown they can score goals and they LOVE to score against West Ham, the key here will be to keep focused and not conceed at the end like in the Conti cup (Final prediction 2-1 spurs).

Godfrey extends stay.

At lunch time on Friday 10th January, news broke that Lilywhite defender Hannah Godfrey had signed a contract extension that will keep her at the club until 2021. This comes on the back of Kit Graham signing an extension earlier this week also keeping her at the club until 2021. These are two very important extensions at the club as Kit and Hannah have both been exceptional this season and regular starters in what is a competive squad. I wish both players the best of luck at Tottenham and have no doubt they will continue to be important players for us.
